Description

Polypropylene (PP) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material, with a continuous use temperature range of -4° F (-20° C) to 212° F (100° C). It is categorized as a standard material, and offers excellent toughness, chemical resistance, and processability. Polypropylene is suitable for contact with food products, and exhibits very good electrical insulation properties, high surface hardness and very low water absorption. It has the ability to withstand contact with many common sterilization materials including acids, alkalis, and solvents, and its ease of processing enables it to be used in many applications requiring repeated exposure to chemicals. It exhibits excellent ability to resist fatigue when flexing under load, making it a preferred material in orthotics and prosthetics.

Polypropylene Copolymer, known as PP-C, has a continuous use temperature range of -4° F (-20° C) to 176° F (80° C), and exhibits an increased impact strength at low temperatures.

Polypropylene Homopolymer, known as PP-H, has a continuous use temperature of 32° F (0° C) to 212° F (100° C). PP-H is easy to fabricate, weld, or machine, and offers increased stiffness compared to Polyethylene (PE), especially in its higher temperature ranges (up to 212° F/100° C /). Polypropylene Homopolymer is also available in a dimensionally stable grade. It has exceptionally low residual stress, which improves the fabrication of dimensionally stable parts with varying cross sections
